The June 2023 Nintendo Direct had a big focus on Mario games and one of my favorite titles also gets a remake, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. The original game was released on the Super Nintendo in 1996 and had 2D sprites take on a 3D-type appearance. This remake seems to take that style of art but makes it full-on 3D models and polishes them out.
There seems to be a physical and a digital release of the game and it looks to be paying homage to the original game with it in spades. Luckily it is also coming out this year!
Super Mario RPG is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 17th, 2023.
