Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse Has Already Outgrossed Original Film

By Todd BlackJune 12, 2023
When is Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse come to Blu-ray and Streaming, Spider-Man Beyond The Spider-Verse

It’s very telling how hype over the course of a few years can build into a big thing. You see, when Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse came out from Sony Animation, not many people knew what to expect from it. But it became an Oscar-winning movie for animation and helped introduce Miles Morales to the mainstream for many. The film is so beloved it became an influence for many things, and that’s what made the sequel so anticipated. As you know, Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse was a huge hit at the box office when it debuted, and this past weekend added to that.

According to The Wrap, the film got over $55 million domestically in its second weekend, which was a drop of just over 50%, which isn’t bad for a superhero film, or an animation film for that matter. But what’s most important is that worldwide, the movie has already outgrossed the entire run of Into The Spider-Verse. What that shows is that the love of the first movie grew over time, and fans wanted to see what would happen next.

One can only imagine what’ll happen when Beyond The Spider-Verse arrives in theaters next year.
