How To Beat Barbatos in Cult of the Lamb

How to defeat Barbatos in Cult of the Lamb-01

Barbatos is a boss in Cult of the Lamb that requires patience, not recklessness. It is up to you to take your time, dodge when necessary, and ultimately succeed in this test of skills and wits. We’ll guide you through it.

Similar to how Valefar is defeated, you’ll need to dodge many projectiles and strike at the most opportune moments with Barbatos. Barbatos has three different attacks to keep in mind. The first and most obvious is how it digs into the ground, and its spikes can cause damage if you approach them. While Barbatos is moving, make sure you’re out of the way.

The first few seconds when it goes white are the most optimal time to strike. It is trying to build up energy for one of two moves. The primary one is how it unleashes green poisonous orbs everywhere on the stage. However, don’t look at the distracting pellets in the sky; instead, glance at the ground, and you’ll see red targets. Avoid coming into contact with the targets, and you’ll be fine. It’s fairly easy to avoid with the use of a stage.

As seen in the picture above, the latter attack is one of the trickier moves to dodge. After three or so seconds of charging up (it takes longer than the orbs, so keep that in mind), it will unleash an earthquake of thorns around itself. You do not want to be in the middle of it. Stick to the opposite corners of the arena and keep some distance with a quick roll out of the way.

Our primary method is to get a couple of hints in, and as the flash of white begins to fade, dodge out of the way for either the green orbs or, most importantly, the vines. During the fight, we realized that Barbatos was using vines after two or three rounds of the green orbs, but towards the end of its health bar, it will use the vines more often. Don’t get tripped up by that and remain the course.

Once again, stay patient and progressively take out Barbato’s life points with a few strikes of a quick sword. An axe wouldn’t be advised for a clash like that, as you’ll need speed.
