Iron Ore in Crimson Desert is essential to acquire if you want to upgrade your early-game weapons and armor. Thankfully, there are multiple ways to complete this task in this big open world. Here are a few quick steps to get the valuable resource in Crimson Desert.
Find Iron Ore in the Open World
There are a variety of mountainous areas in the Hernandian Territory and further away in Crimson Desert, but the southern section of Rocca’s Hill is a good spot for newcomers. You can boot up the map by pausing the game and changing the tab to the Map. After that, press the R2/RT button to alter the map to show environmental icons only. The black rocks resemble the Iron Ore you need. They should pop up if you get near one while exploring in the game.
Before you head out, however, make sure to get a pickaxe. Some explosive arrows may be useful too. Pickaxes can be bought from the shop opposite the blacksmith in Hernand Town. They’re on the ground next to the front door to the left. Additionally, you should be given one during your tutorial.
To extract the Iron Ore from the black stones on the mountain face, hold the left D-Pad button and then select the Pickaxe. After that, hold L1/LB and aim at the rock. If the cursor turns blue, you can strike it. The rock should be bulging out, indicating its worth hitting. Two or three Iron Ore blocks should drop below after hitting the rock with your pickaxe. Pick them up.
If the Iron Ore is inaccessible to strike with your pickaxe, use a bow and arrow and use explosive arrows. They can be purchased from back-alley vendors. The closest is north of Hernand. Simply aim your shot towards the rock and the loot will shoot out on impact.

If you need Iron Ore in Crimson Desert and don’t want to bother using a pickaxe, you can buy a limited quantity from shops. The Equipment Shop in Hernand ran by Rhett should have three at a total price of 54 bronze coins. He also has Copper Ore available.
Where to Use Iron Ore in Crimson Desert
Iron Ore can be used to upgrade your weapons and armor. Head over to the Smithy of major towns. He is located near Rhett in Hernand inside the building to the left near a fire. Interact with him and select the equipment you want to upgrade with a refinement. Then, press the triangle or Y button to initiate the process. Now you can beat stronger foes who halt your progress, hopefully.
