Mina The Hollower came out roughly a week ago to overwhelmingly positive reviews, with over 300,000 copies sold in the first week of release. Not too bad, all things considered. If you’re new, you’ll probably need to learn the controls, and how to progress through the early game until you find your bearings. Thankfully, that’s where this guide comes into help!
Tip #1: Try to BEAT the Technical First Boss

After watching the game’s opening cutscene depicting Mina reading a letter from the Marshal of Ossex on the Tenebrous Isle, you are put on the boat where after just a few steps and interactions with the fellow boatmates, the Nether Kraken attacks seemingly out of nowhere.
This fight is supposed to be unwinnable, as after awhile, the story cutscene that’ll play afterwards indicates you crash into the cliffs and your boat is all but wrecked after a final attack by the kraken.
However, there’s a way to beat it and get a nifty – but also RIsky – modifier item: The Uranium Bracelet. It increases the Damage you deal out in exchange for also increasing the damage you recieve. If you miss it here, don’t worry, as it CAN be purchased later.
Tip #2: The Nightstar is the best Starting Weapon

The Nether Kraken is a tough opponent to beat at the start. However, if you picked the Nightstar just a few moments earlier, this fight is much more manageable. For the Castlevania afficiandos, like myself, you SHOULD pick this weapon for the Kraken battle as it can strike 2-4 times depending on how quick you are with the attack button (the Y button on the Switch 2).
Tip #3: Upgrade your Trinket Capacity to at LEAST 2!

The Proto Spark, a porwerful Trinket that saves you from Death ONCE per dungeon run, is obtained by doing a fairly tough side-quest. It’s an Escort Mission where you escort The Duke through a dungeon, fight a boss (if not already fought) and lead him to a Coffin where you interact with it a few times to get The Duke to enter and essentially… reunite with his late wife in the Afterlife.
Kinda dark, but the trinket-in-question, the Proto Spark, acts as a rechargable 1-time use Revive upon death. IF you have one trinket slot, this means you can only equip this, and nothing else. Hence, you’ll want to upgrade those trinket equip storage capacities asap!
CONCLUSION/Final Tip: Have Fun!
Remember, this game is based quite abit off of The Legend of Zelda; Link’s Awakening. Like in that game, the journey is always more important than the destination/ending. (Don’t worry; I’m not spoiling why!)
