Gameplay Footage of SD Gundam Battle Alliance Surfaces from Anime Expo 2022

One of the main reasons I wanted to head out to Anime Expo 2022 was due to Bandai Namco showcasing its upcoming action RPG, SD Gundam Battle Alliance. While I wasn’t able to make it out to the event, thanks to the YouTuber NewtypeSeiji (I love the name btw), a nice chunk of gameplay has been uploaded to watch.

Watching the game, it does confirm what I initially thought, that this is basically a mixture of several prior released Gundam games. This isn’t a bad thing, as I loved the previously released Gundam titles. If you’re a Gundam fan, you can’t get enough of games that feature those loveable machines of destruction. Plus, there aren’t many games where you can play with the RX-77-2 Gun Cannon, which happens to be one of my favorite mobile suits.

Check out the gameplay below.

SD Gundam Battle Alliance is a multiplayer Gundam action RPG that takes place in the G: Universe, an alternate world where the canon history has been distorted. It’s up to you and other players to fix the twisted history and restore the timeline so that it matches up with the Gundam anime.

In addition to SD Battle Alliance, Bandai Namco is getting ready to release its 5 vs. 5 team battle game, Gundam Evolution. Recently, a beta for PC PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X had been released. It’s pretty much Overwatch if every character had been replaced with Gundams and mobile suits. You can check out my thoughts and impressions of that here.

There’s also Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2, which has been available for the PlayStation consoles and is now headed to the PC. There’s no release date on that as of yet, as the release was delayed. Still, the more Gundam games, the better.

SD Gundam Battle Alliance releases in August 2022 for the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
