The Callisto Protocol No Longer Taking Place In PUBG’s Universe

When The Callisto Protocol was revealed, it was mentioned that the game would take place in the same universe as PUBG. A move that I didn’t understand or why that would even be a thing. How would that have even worked? I can’t imagine the implications of telling the story or implications of making sure PUBG was connected. Thankfully, things have changed, and Glen Schofield, the game’s creator, has revealed that this is no longer a thing.

FYI @CallistoTheGame is its own story and world. It no longer takes place in the PUBG Universe. It was originally part of the PUBG timeline, but grew into its own world. PUBG is awesome, &we will still have little surprises for fans, but TCP is its own world, story and universe.

FYI @CallistoTheGame is its own story and world. It no longer takes place in the PUBG Universe. It was originally part of the PUBG timeline, but grew into its own world. PUBG is awesome, & we will still have little surprises for fans, but TCP is its own world, story and universe.

While The Callisto Protocol won’t take place in the same universe as PUBG, there might be a treat or two for fans of that game. That being said, I think that the universes being connected is great news. TCP can be its own story, and that’s how it should be. Of course, silly me originally had pondered if the game would actually take place in the Dead Space universe. Why? The trailer that was originally released featured a number of references to Dead Space. If you haven’t checked out the article yet, I recommend you do. We’ve pointed out all the references, so you don’t have to research them. After reading it, you’ll also be asking, “What If The Callisto Protocol Actually Takes Place In The Dead Space Universe?”

Of course, that was before EA decided (finally) to use the Dead Space license again and announced the Dead Space remake. Another sci-fi survival horror game that I’m looking forward to playing.

Set on Jupiter’s moon Callisto in the year 2320, The Callisto Protocol is a next-generation take on survival horror. The game challenges players to escape the maximum-security Black Iron Prison and uncover its terrifying secrets. A blend of horror, action and immersive storytelling, the game aims to set a new bar for horror in interactive entertainment. Played in a third-person perspective, The Callisto Protocol has two goals; to tell an immersive story and to scare the pants off you. That said, with Glen at the helm, I don’t have any concerns about either goal being missed. We’re talking about the creator of Dead Space, one of the most immersive and scary-as-hell survival horror games ever made. Well, except for Dead Space 3 — we don’t talk about Dead Space 3. Being a next-gen title, it will only be playable on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

As for when The Callisto Protocol will be released, Striking Distance Studios hasn’t revealed a date, and honestly, I’m fine with that. With all the games recently being delayed, I’d rather the game be completely finished before a release date is announced. Of course, I can’t wait to sit down and play this game, in the dark, with full surround sound, and get so scared that I’ll need to turn the lights on. Hey, don’t judge me!
