Nightdive Studios Seeks To Remaster 1st Party Nintendo Games

By Todd BlackFebruary 20, 2022
Nightdive Studios, Eternal Darkness

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll notice that a lot of recent announcements have been about remasters coming out on the Nintendo Switch. In fact, the latest Nintendo Direct featured TONS of them from Chrono Cross, to the Front Mission franchise, to Klonoa. And more are likely on the way that we don’t know about, especially if certain developers get their wish. Such as with Nightdive Studios.

If you’re unfamiliar with that name, they’re the 3rd party crew behind remasters of games on Switch like the first two Turok titles, Quake, and PowerSlave Exhumed. But they’ve wanted to do other titles for the Switch, except…

We've had discussions with Nintendo over the years about remastering a number of their games and they always get gun shy working with 3rd party developers even after @NightdiveStudio released the first N64 games on *their* platform. https://t.co/fR0Szptoou

They’ve even noted that the game they’d LOVE to bring back to life via remaster is Eternal Darkness Sanity’s Requiem. A game that is beloved by many, and is definitely do for a remaster. We’ll have to see if Nintendo stops being gun shy about this soon.
