October PS Plus Games Include ‘Hell Let Loose’ and ‘Mortal Kombat X’

By Andrew AgressOctober 4, 2021

This October, PlayStation Plus subscribers can download Hell Let Loose, Mortal Kombat X, and PGA Tour 2K21. The month’s offerings have an online war game, a fighting game, and a sports game, but no horror game like in previous years. The first game, Hell Let Loose, is only available for PS5, while Mortal Combat X and PGA 2K21 arrive for PS4.

Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

Hell Let Loose

On the surface, Hell Let Loose seems similar to other World War II multiplayer games. If the large-scale battles of 100 players don’t make it stand out enough, it differs in the resource based meta-game. The role of Commanders adds a real-time strategy element to the game, as players in this position can coordinate abilities and strategies. Compared to other World War II games, Hell Let Loose is based more on teamwork. That being said, the game still includes all the hallmarks expected of the genre, such as various team roles, vehicles, weapons, and even maps based on real battle locations.

Mortal Kombat X

Though not the most recent Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat X is considered a high point for the long-running fighting game franchise. The game features a story mode, a challenge “Tower” mode, and the first-person “Krypt” mode, in addition to various one on one modes. It also features different fighting styles for every single character for the first time in the series’ history.

PGA Tour 2K21 offers tons of real-life courses to choose from in addition to the standard fictional golf courses found in The Golf Club series. Part of the reason is that it’s only the second game in the series to have an official PGA Tour license. Not only does it mark a unique point in the franchise from a licensing perspective, but it’s also more accessible than its predecessors and offers a good amount of customization.

And with that, we have our October PS Plus games. Last month had some pretty strong offerings, proving a tough act for this month to follow. October usually stands out for its strong horror game offering right in time for Halloween, so it’s a little surprising to see more war, fighting, and sports games offered like in other months. But if you’re a big fan of those genres, these games aren’t too shabby at all. PlayStation Plus Subscribers can download Hell Let Loose, Mortal Kombat X, and PGA Tour 2K21 from tomorrow, October 5th, until November 1st, according to the PlayStation Blog.
