Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora finally revealed, arriving in 2022

By Poch SaldanaJune 12, 2021

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment first announced they were working on a project within the universe of  James Cameron’s Avatar back in 2017 In their big Ubisoft Forward held earlier today, the company finally gave us the first glimpse of their gorgeous rendition of Pandora in Avatar: Frontier of Pandora which is slated for a 2022 release.

The reveal trailer also serves as a technical showcase of Massive’s updated Snowdrop Engine, the same engine powering The Division. The lush vegetation and bizarre creatures of Pandora look as vibrant as ever that they could even entice those uninterested in the original Avatar (or the 4 planned sequels).

In an extremely small footnote at the end of the trailer, it was also revealed that Avatar: Frontier of Pandora will be a next-gen exclusive game. This will be the French studio’s first title announced, at least for now, to be exclusive to newer machines and streaming services. Unless they make some massive concessions to the title’s visual quality. it’ll be difficult to see either the Xbox One or PS4 running such a beautiful-looking game.

Avatar: Frontier of Pandora is being published by Ubisoft with development lead by Massive Entertainment. The title will release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, and Luna in 2022.

Big fan of games, writing, and writing about games! Two things Poch will always stand by--the Vita was ahead of its time and the world is a better place with a new Rhythm Heaven on the horizon.
