Breath of the Wild 2 Being Pushed Back To 2022?

By Todd BlackMay 12, 2021
Zelda

There’s a lot of games in the Nintendo Switch world that are highly-anticipated both first and third-party. However, topping the list in most ways is that of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2. The sequel to arguably the best LOZ game ever made and the OG launch title for the Nintendo Switch. The game was announced in 2019 via a very small teaser video, and since then…nothing has happened.

No more teases, no art, nothing. Part of that was no doubt due to the global pandemic, but fans have been hoping for a release this year. But according to Nintendo insider Zippo…that might not be feasible:

“If any Nintendo game was affected by the pandemic, it was this one,” said Zippo. “From what I heard, the game is nearing completion, but a release by the end of the year just isn’t seeming feasible. The game needs a bit more time, and with the last year in mind, that’s entirely understandable.
What I foresee Nintendo doing at E3 is finally busting down the doors on the game and giving fans and the press tons of details on it, with a ‘Spring 2022’ date attached to it.”

If this “Verse” sounds familiar, it’s because the original Breath of the Wild took its sweet time as well. Producer Eiji Aonuma said that over 300 people worked on the game to make it work, and to do that kind of work on the sequel in the pandemic…takes time. So it makes sense that the game might come out in 2022.

But, as Zippo teased, we might get a first look at E3 2021 so that’s something to look forward to.
