Coming 2 America trailer released

By Karl SmartDecember 23, 2020

Coming 2 America, the sequel to the 1988 comedy Coming To America (Because that’s not confusing at all…) starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall is currently in the post-production phase as it prepares for its March 5, 2021 release on Amazon Prime Video, has released its first trailer for us to enjoy. You can see the trailer by clicking on the header image above this post.

Coming 2 America continues the story 33 years after the original ended. King Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones) steps down, or passes on, leaving his son Akeem (Eddie Murphy) to take over the rule of the African nation of Zamunda. The former King explains that the throne of Zamunda must pass down to a male heir, and more-so that Akeem has a secret son that was conceived during his trip to America. This sends Akeem and his friend/servant Semmi on a quest to find his son in America and bring him back to Zamunda to become the next Prince. Along the way we see a lot of returning characters from Coming To America, including Cleo McDowell (John Amos, returning) the father of Akeem’s wife Lisa (Shari Headley, returning), the Queens barbershop (Mostly comprised of characters played by Murphy & Hall), alongside new characters and more returning characters with recast actors.

Coming 2 America will release digitally on Prime Video on March 5, 2021, excluding countries where Paramount will handle theatrical distribution.
