CD Projekt Red Receiving Death Threats Over Delay

By Conner BOctober 28, 2020

This is just sad

Yesterday afternoon fans were hit with the disappointing news that Cyberpunk 2077 was getting another delay. While understandably annoyed with the news as the game had recently gone gold, most people have taken to the news as you would expect, a few complaints here and there, however, some people have gone to extreme measures to vent their frustration in the form of death threats to the developers.

Andrzej Zawadzki, senior game designer for the team took to Twitter to say this:

I want to address one thing in regards of the @CyberpunkGame delay.
I understand you’re feeling angry, disappointed and want to voice your opinion about it.
However, sending death threats to the developers is absolutely unacceptable and just wrong. We are people, just like you.

— Andrzej Zawadzki (@ZawAndy) October 27, 2020

Death threats against members of the industry are becoming worryingly common with the talented team over at Insomniac also receiving death threats over the changes made to Peter Parker’s face in the upcoming Spider-man remaster.

What I’m about to say should in no way be surprising to any normal human but unfortunately it’s something that needs to be pointed out. Death threats are not okay, the gaming industry is full of passion and some could argue that this passion is what spurs on these sorts of incidents but at the end of the day if you are threatening a persons life because a game got delayed then I recommend you seek professional help.

The new release date of Cyberpunk has been slated for December 10th of 2020, while it is still possible that this could be pushed back again it’s highly unlikely but to parrot the words laid out in the original Cyberpunk trailer: “Coming: When it’s ready.”

The resident Brit of Outerhaven, however, don't expect refinement from me as I swear like a sailor and I will die on the hill I chose to fight on.
