Freed from the ownership of Funimation, Hentai company Critical Mass has gained the rights to Interspecies Reviewers. It has also been announced that the Blu-ray is set for a 2021 release.
As the show was originally acquired by Funimation and not shown due to its lewd content, many wondered if it will forever remain under lock and chain under them. Thankfully it seems that Critical Mass, a niche Hentai company, has negotiated with them, and now the show can be shown free to the West. Critical Mass is known for vintage Hentai compilations and OVA’s, such as Anyone You Can Do, I Can Do Better. If you are looking for a particular kink, they are a fair source.
Though it is a shame as the first episode was dubbed by Funimation and it was in good quality. Kept the source material and delivery was spot on. However, up to the third episode, things get explicit and that is where Funimation decided to cancel broadcasting it. Course many fans were displeased and wondered why would you license a show not knowing that it contained the idea of reviewing brothels. It’s in the title for crying out loud! Reviewing the interspecies mingling… Kind of obvious. We have discussed this issue on the A-1 Podcast a while back if you wish for further details.
Critical Mass is partnered with the anime online retailer of Right Stuf Anime and is set to be released on their site. You can currently sign up for an email list to be notified when the Blu-ray will be on sale. It is not currently known if the dub of the show will continue. They also show a fun list of requirements should one wish to be a reviewer.
If what happened with Sentai Filmworks and the release of Monster Musume no Nichijou‘s limited edition is any clue, many fans will jump on this and will likely be back-ordered or sell out completely. So I suggest keeping your mouse, wallet, and your body ready. Cause I sense another Monster Girl wave coming in the future. Now I must go hide before my boss gets me.
