Samurai Jack Battle Through Time Gives Fans Happier Ending To Series Finale

By Todd BlackAugust 30, 2020
Samurai Jack Battle Through Time

Samurai Jack in 2017 shocked the world by bringing back the series on Adult Swim for 10 episodes to FINALLY end the series in a way that would bring closure to fans. As I noted in my reviews of the 10 episodes, there are 5-star classics that showed once again why this story was special. But, I also noted in my review of the Series Finale that the ending with Ashi dying RIGHT AS she about to get married to Jack was not just a somber ending, but one that really hurt things over. Which many fans agreed with. Which brings us to Samurai Jack Battle Through Time.

Apparently, there is a secret ending in this game (which to remind you, the game is canon as it takes place in the series finale itself), and if you get it…you get a literal happier ending. We see the wedding from the series finale, then cut to the ladybug scene at the end…and then Ashi shows up!

This ending is viewed to many as a “Much better ending!” than the original because Jack got to have peace and the women he loved (still not a fan of that relationship by the way).

Now, ironically, a fan noted that this wasn’t just “to please the fans”, apparently the team DID have an alternate ending storyboarded out for the show. In it, the Gods who made Jack’s sword would revive Ashi to reward Jack for what he did. Obviously this is a toned-down version of that, but still, it works.

Which ending do you prefer? Let us know in the comments below. And be sure to check out my review of Samurai Jack Battle Through Time!
