Crunchyroll’s Anime in America Podcast Launches

By Josh PiedraJuly 28, 2020

Crunchyroll announced today that the first two of eight total episodes of their Anime in America podcast, hosted by Yedoye Travis, is now live for any and all to check out! The first two episodes cover the topics of Fansubs and Localization in the 80’s, respectively!

Ep 1: IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS FANSUBS

Description: Before you could go online to watch literally any and every anime…you had to send a letter, a check, and wait a few months for a VHS of maybe 4 episodes. Also, doing that was a crime.
Guest: Justin Sevakis

Ep 2: ROBOTS, REAL ESTATE, AND SILVIO BERLUSCONI

Description: Localization is a messy world, especially in the 80s’, but that doesn’t stop Harmony Gold (a company, not a person) from mashing up a few shows to create the first big anime, Robotech. Also, you’ll never believe how former Italian prime minister and known criminal Silvio Berlusconi is involved!

You can check out these, as well as future episodes, at the following link: https://www.crunchyroll.com/animeinamerica/index.html
