While fans of Nintendo were looking forward to the first Nintendo Direct of 2020, I’m sure this is a close second. On January 16, 2020, at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET, Masahiro Sakurai will appear on a 35 minute-long Livestream to show off the latest DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
This new fighter will the fifth fighter and will join the ranks of Piranha Plant, the Dragon Quest Hero, Persona 5’s Joker, Banjo Kazooie, and SNK’s Terry Bogard.
As for who this new fighter will be, well that’s anyone’s guess. As we’ve seen, as long as it is a video game character then anyone is game. Despite the pleas of fans everywhere asking for popular characters such as Goku from the immensely popular Dragon Ball anime. Whoever it ends up being, you can bet half of the Smash fan base will love them, while the other half question why that character even made it.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch and has been one of the most popular games for the Switch, since its debut in 2018.
