Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will not have access to a trial
If you’re like me, one of the main reasons you signed up for EA Access was for the early access. The 10-hour trials ahead of the retail release, or more recently full unrestricted access to EA games thanks to EA’s Origin Access Premier. However, if you were planning to use this to take advantage of some early access with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you’ll have to think again.
Instead of the early access that EA Access members are used to, you’ll only receive 10% off the game and some in-game cosmetics. That 10% feels like a slap in the face, especially for those who already paid for an annual EA Access subscription.

As to why they would do this, well one could argue that they don’t want any spoilers getting out. The only people who have access to the game right now are reviewers (of which we aren’t, we didn’t receive a code) and those who have access to a copy of the game that was in the wild. And I’m sure those who access to review codes are under a strict NDA (aren’t they always) and would likely suffer EA’s wraith if anything gets out storywise. So I can understand why they’d be against a trial or early access.
Now, I want to be clear here and I am not a fan of this decision. I mean, why couldn’t we just get the demo that was available to streamers and content creators? One without any spoilers instead of full access to the game. I get that EA doesn’t want any spoilers floating out there (as if they’re already isn’t) but this strikes me as an odd move. They didn’t do this with Mass Effect: Andromeda, Star Wars: Battlefront, any of the recent Battlefields or the more recent Need for Speed: Heat; which had a story.
You can’t argue that any of Respawn Entertainment titles weren’t part of EA’s early access either. This is due to both Titanfall titles being released (2004/2014) prior to the acquisition of the developer. Sure, they did publish them, but only EA owned titles have ever been granted trails or full early access.
It stinks, there’s no way around that. We all wanted to get some early hands-on with the single-player Star Wars title that we’ve been waiting on for a very long time. I have zero doubt that this game is going to be nothing short of amazing (calling a 90 on the reviews). In Respawn we trust, I just wish we could just get our hands on this gem sooner than later.
