Death Stranding is officially releasing on PC next Summer 2020

Death Stranding PS4

Death Stranding is heading to the PC

When Death Stranding was first announced, it was supposedly coming to the PS4 and also the PC. Of course, over time the part about it coming to the PC was silently removed and was thought to be a PS4-exclusive. Every time someone asked about the PC version and its existence, the question was deflected. That’s a thing of the past as Kojima Productions has officially announced that the PC version is being released next Summer 2020.

Thanks to all of you who have been supporting #DEATHSTRANDING!
DEATH STRANDING release on PS4 is November 8, 2019!!
Furthermore, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS is happy to announce that DEATH STRANDING will be coming to PC in early summer of 2020!!#kojimaproductions #deathstrandingpc pic.twitter.com/Sk4clWWY1X

Those that remember Kojima’s original announcement will recall that he mentioned his first project was for both the PS4 and PC. However, after the first Death Stranding trailer was released, the PC version and all mention of it disappeared. Add to that the missing “Only on PlayStation” branding on a previous Death Stranding box art. Needless to say, I’m glad that this smokescreen has finally cleared and we know this is coming to PC. I’d also like to add that Sony and Kojima have only ever stated that this was a console-exclusive. As many of you know, this discounts the PC as it’s not a console.

Update: 505 Games is publishing Death Stranding for the PC. Which means this is more than likely heading to the Epic Games Store. Why? Well, something about that $10.5 million exclusivity deal for Remedy, with 505 Games handling the publishing duties.

The only question now is which store is this going to appear on. While Metal Gear V is on Steam, that was due to Konami. Seeing how Sony is publishing this, Death Stranding for PC could end up on any storefront. My money is on the Epic Game store just due to how the PC storefront wars have been going as of late. If I had my way, it would come to all storefronts. Perfect world and all that noise.

Death Stranding releases on November 8th, 2019 for the PlayStation 5, while the PC version will arrive next Summer 2020. The only question now is will you be double-dipping then the PC version is released? I know I will be.
