State of Play Announced For September 24

By Diego PerezSeptember 19, 2019
The Last of Us Part 2

The third State of Play livestream has officially been announced for September 24. Unlike the second State of Play, which aired in May, this State of Play should feature a ton of info, including news regarding The Last of Us Part II.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, this State of Play will run for approximately 20 minutes and showcase new game reveals, updates on projects from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and other news. Before any of you start speculating, they confirmed that there won’t be any next-gen news in this episode. It’s all about PlayStation 4 games.

Although it hasn’t been explicitly confirmed, there’s a good chance we’ll see an update for The Last of Us Part II in this episode of State of Play. On the same day that the State of Play will air, there will be a behind closed doors media event for the highly anticipated title where certain members of the press will reportedly get to play three hours of the game. Not only that, but new The Last of Us Part II gameplay was shown during the GameStop Managers Conference in August. Troy Baker, the voice actor for Joel in the original Last of Us, made an appearance at the conference, so there’s a possibility that we might get our first real look at Joel in the sequel if we do end up getting new footage during the State of Play.

This episode of State of Play is also taking place two days before “Outbreak Day,” which has a ton of significance in the world of The Last of Us, but it’s also a day where Naughty Dog tends to share some tidbits and behind the scenes information about the series. Whether it happens during State of Play or not, it’s highly likely that we’ll see The Last of Us Part II in some way next week.

UPDATE: The Last of Us Part II has been confirmed for State of Play according to a tweet from director Neil Druckmann.

State of Play will be streamed live on September 24 at 1 PM PT. If you can’t catch the presentation live, then stay tuned to The Outerhaven to see all the biggest news from the stream.

When he's not playing video games, Diego's talking about video games, and he does both a lot.
