Sega’s Judgment sold better than expected in the West

By Keith MitchellAugust 27, 2019
Judgment

Chances are when Sega greenlit the 3D brawler Judgment to be released in the West, they likely had some trepidation on this decision. Which resulted in a win for the company as they recently reported that the game sold better than expected in the US.

We reviewed Judgment and we loved it. Check out the review here.

Going into this, we all figured that Sega pushing Judgment into the West was a risk. One that would dictate the future of the title not only our region but also in Japan. Thankfully, it did well. While Sega hasn’t released the performance numbers, the company was happy with the results.

“From our point of view, Judgment’s performance in the West has surpassed our expectations, they’re very good.” “Us, as a team, would like to keep working in more games in the Judgment series.” — Judgement producer Daisuke Sato.

Does this mean that we can expect a follow-up to Judgement?  Quite possibly! Seeing how both this and the Yakuza series is doing exceptionally well, I suspect we’ll see more of Judgment in the future. Not to mention that there’s a conference/live stream taking place on August 29th, 2019, that will talk about the upcoming Yakuza 7 title. Chances are that Sega will talk more about Judgement as well during this conference.

Then there’s the recent announcement of the Yakuza Remastered Collection which is releasing Yakuza 3-5 for the PS4. As popular as the franchise has gotten, I’m sure we’ll see more of Judgment and Yakuza over in the West in the future.

Now we just need Sega to bring Judgment to the PC and maybe even the Xbox One.
