A Familiar Face Shows Up In The Latest World Of Warcraft Cinematic “Safe Haven”

By Keith MitchellMay 15, 2019
Thrall is back in WoW trailer Safe Haven

While I no longer play Blizzard’s World of Warcraft (two years free and counting), I’d be a fool if I said I still don’t watch their cinematics. Blizzard has a knack for crafting some the best looking visuals that rival several movie production studios. And the release of the most recent cinematic, “Safe Haven”, is no different. As soon as I heard about it, I had to take a peek (no, I’m not coming back).

Shocked as I was, a familiar blast from the past in the form of “Green Jesus” himself also makes an appearance. Yes, Thrall and it looks like he’s coming back into the story thanks to Varok Saurfang pulling him back into whatever mess he’s in. Seems he’s not too fond of Sylvanas Windrunner. I suppose burning the world tree and being perhaps a worse warchief than Gorrosh will do that.  I’m not sure what these new turn of events will mean as I don’t play the game anymore. But I’m sure some of my fellow teammates from The Outerhaven, will be happy to fill me in.

Check out the cinematic below.

As for those wondering why Thrall pulls out an axe instead of Doomhammer, he can no longer wield it. After slaying Garrosh, the spirits stopped talking to him and the once mighty hammer turned into a paper weigh. So he passed it on and that’s pretty much it. This is why he’s seen rocking that axe now.  Yes, this very similar to what happened to Thor. Especially since Thrall is modeled after Thor (Marvel Comics), per Chris Metzen.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is currently available for PC and Mac. NO! I am not coming back to WoW!
