Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Tops Two Million Sales In Just 10 Days

We already knew that Fromsoftware’s and Activision’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was is an amazing game. I simply couldn’t stop playing it until the credits (Return ending) started rolling. And apparently, the game was a major hit, with over 2 million copies of the game being sold within the first ten days. That’s despite more than a few people complaining that the game was a bit on the hard side.

To say that Activision is quite happy regarding the sales is an understatement.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has brought something very special and unique to Activision’s portfolio of games. It’s been an honor to work with From Software to help introduce a brand-new franchise to gamers around the world,” said Activision vice president of product management and marketing Michelle Fonseca in a press release. “The fans have made Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice one of the most incredible game launches of 2019 thus far. The game has performed well on all platforms including PC and we’re excited by the continued support from gamers and critics alike. It has been gratifying to see the enjoyment from fans when they overcome each challenge.

I know several people were skeptical about Sekiro and wasn’t sure if it would have the same impact as the Dark Souls and Bloodborne titles. Thankfully, the game not only met Activision’s sales expectations. It has also gone on to spawn several memes, and people are speedrunning the heck out of the game.

Speaking of speed runs, Twitch saw a huge boost thanks to Sekiro. The title went on to become the #1 viewed title when it was released. This is no small feat, especially when you realize that games like Fornite, DOTA 2, and Apex Legends are typically the top three games on the platform.

On launch day, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was the #1 viewed game on Twitch3. With more than 631 million minutes watched on Twitch during launch weekend, players could not get enough of the intense combat and thrilling opportunity to escape death. The game also had 1.1 billion minutes watched on Twitch within one week3.

So yeah, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, has been a major hit indeed. Now, we just have to wait for that DLC that we all know Fromsoftware is currently working on. Right, Fromsoftware? Right?

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. While you’re here, why not check out our review.
