This Is Not Your Father’s Stardust Speedway Jam

By Keith MitchellJuly 31, 2017

Sega, how is this even possible?

Sega has been on a blitz, promoting the hell out of both of Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces. Between all the Twitter love, video releases and music examples, it’s been a nice ride watching Sega put out some maximum effort here. but what they’ve done today is probably one of best things I’ve seen… heard so far.

You see, they’ve released an updated track of a classic Sonic CD jam – Stardust Speedway. Now I’m sure you’ve heard the track and maybe a few mixes in your time, but this one, well just listen to it for yourself.

Yes, it’s a bit slower but I feel it definitely suits the zone.

To be 100% fair, just about every new piece of music for Sonic Mania has been on point. It’s just that this one has been the best I’ve heard from the Sonic Mania camp. I can’t wait to hear what else Sega has in store for the upcoming release. I might get some internet hate (and real life) for saying this, but this soundtrack could be one of the best, if not the best Sonic the Hedgehog soundtrack in quite some time.

Speaking of which, the soundtrack for the game is already available for pre-order, for vinyl only. At least for now anyway. Thanks to Datadiscs.com, you can pick up your own Sonic Mania album. Click here for more details.

Sonic Mania will be speeding onto the PS4, Xbox One, PC/Steam, and Nintendo Switch on August 22nd. Come make it a date with Sonic, Tail, and Knuckles, in an all new 2D adventure. I know I will be!
