Florence + the Machine’s “Songs from Final Fantasy XV” Available Now

By Mark SullivanAugust 12, 2016

Several songs from Final Fantasy XV performed by Florence + the Machine are available now on iTunes.

Announced to be the performer of the theme song during the Uncovered event in March, Florence + the Machine’s cover of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” is now purchasable digitally, along with 2 other original songs. Florence Welch had this to say on the collaboration:

I’ve always seen FINAL FANTASY as a beautiful and creative game so I don’t think I could have worked with another video game. It wouldn’t have made sense. In some ways the landscape of FINAL FANTASY and my own internal landscape seemed to fit quite well, it’s mythical and beautiful and epic.

Hajime Tabata, director of the upcoming role-playing game, had this to add:

We are incredibly excited to have collaborated with Florence on both the cover of ‘Stand by Me’ and on the two original tracks inspired by the world and story of FINAL FANTASY XV. Music has always been a hugely important and much beloved part of the FINAL FANTASY series, and with these three tracks we really wanted to create a musical experience to live within the game, and that will transport listeners, whether new to the series or not, into the epic FINAL FANTASY XV Universe.

You can view the original announcement of the band’s involvement below, and you can purchase the tracks on iTunes here.

Final Fantasy XV will finally be released on September 30, 2016.

Mark is a student in Philadelphia currently working towards a B.S. in Information Science & Technology. Starting in 1998 with a hand-me-down PS1 and the demo for Spyro The Dragon (which he played COUNTLESS times), his love of gaming soon elevated when he borrowed Final Fantasy VII from a friend for the first time. Now he's an avid collector, a semi-expert trophy hunter, and an overall lover of video games. Favorite games are Final Fantasy VII (I know, deal with it), Metal Gear Solid 2, Resident Evil 4, Dark Souls, and Psychonauts, to name a few.
