Ni No Kuni Sequel Announced! Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom

By Walter MackDecember 5, 2015

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch came out in the West back in 2013 for the Playstation 3 and have long since been called one of the must plays for the system. Wrath of the White Witch followed Oliver, a young boy who finds out that he has the ability to travel to an alternate world after his mother’s passing. In this world are  versions of the people and even animals that he knows back home, called “soulmates”, with the two being connected. One of these people he learns of Alicia, a powerful sage who looks exactly like his mother. In his journey to try and save Alicia (and as a result, his mother), Oliver is joined by Mr. Drippy, a fairy, Esther, the daughter of a great sage, and Swaine, who initially appears to be a common thief.

Players can partner up with a wide range of familiars to help fight for them, with each character being able to carry up to 3 familiars. While it’s a bit reminiscent of games like Pokemon, the game takes place in real time. Ni No Kuni is perhaps best known for having Studio Ghibli (the studio that works on Miyazaki films) produced its animate cut scenes.

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom which will be exclusively on the Playstation 4, features a new cast with Evan, a young king and Roland, who appears to transport to his world, much like Oliver did. However, no mentions have been made to the original cast’s return. Check out the trailer below:

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
