Ultra Street Fighter IV’s Final Character.

By Keith MitchellMarch 17, 2014
The Aging King

Ultra Street Fighter IV’s 5th character has been announced, and everything Yoshinori Ono and Tomoaki Ayano said about her are true.

She’s female.
She’s never been playable until now.
She has tenure in UDON’s comics.
So far, her announcement has pissed off EVERYONE (except me).

Ladies and gentlemen, Cammy White’s rival, the dark mirror of our Killer Bee…DECAPRE.https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=dC-Hl33Xqpk
Now, with that out of the way, let’s discuss the knee-jerk reactions to this lovely Russian. As Capcom predicted from the get-go, the majority of responses to her reveal have been negative, overwhelmingly so. People generally don’t like clones. Storywise, Decapre is one (she’s the last of Master Bison’s Dolls, and Cammy’s prototype). Gameplaywise, not so much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XfsKVOuEyow

She’s a charge character, but yes, she does share a few of Miss White’s moves. I think she has potential.

But, I doubt anyone within the fighting game community is willing to give her a chance this summer. If you ask me, the knee-jerk reactions to her, while expected and predicted by Capcom from the get go, are the true disappointment. I hate how quick people are to dismiss something without a second thought, and it’s even worse when that first impression becomes the ONLY impression.

It’s like gamers judge first and are to consumed by negativity to ask question or wait to form an opinion through first-hand experience.

Decapre could be a solid character and something of a revolution in this game. Heck, I like that we’ve got a female Russian in this series at long last. But, if everyone’s too busy spewing hatred, then all this work and experimentation will have been for nothing. Capcom might as well fold up their claws and call it quits if that happens.

Ugh, I can only imagine the heartless parties THAT would instigate…
