Netflix Gives Up On Their Game Rental Idea

By Keith MitchellJanuary 26, 2012

Looks like all that news about Netflix expanding into the game rental market has gone up in smoke. However it seems that has all changed according to Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings.

Some of the other notable comments from Hastings: Netflix has been mulling whether to rent video games since it considered launching Quikster, but he said today there’s no plans to go ahead with that. Hastings said again that the company is interested only in a subscription-rental business and has no interest in offering rentals on a pay-per-view basis.

Which begs on to question why they thought this was a good idea seeing how Gamefly pretty much has that market covered.
