Unicorn Overlord Delivers Combat Guide Video

Unicorn Overlord is the next strategy RPG from VanillaWare, and they have a demo out now for you to try before its release. However, should you want a more verbal outline of what you can expect, you can check out the final “training” video that they’ve dropped. In it, you’ll find the knight Josef teaching your protagonist, Alain, about how to fight in the game’s combat system. Your units will move in real-time across the battlefield, and when opposing forces meet up, they can initiate a battle.

A key feature, though, is that you can swap with a nearby unit to swap your formation before entering the battle, instantly giving you a chance to better the odds in your favor. Winning battles will give you Valor Points that you can use to bring in more units to battle or give you the chance to unleash special attacks. Liberating towns can also get you these points. However, if you run out of time in the battlefield zone or have your command post taken, you’ll lose. But, if you have special items, you can reverse time to try again.

Unicorn Overlord also gives you plenty of ways to customize your units for battle, including giving you special skills that can activate depending on the situation the battle occurs in.

Check out the full training guide below, and get the game on March 8th!
