The new world warrior, Yasmine, arrives today for Street Fighter VI: Year 4. As per usual, with a new character comes not only her trailer and Character Guide, but also something we’ve come to expect each time a new character joins the roster. The 08.03.2026 balance patch has also been applied today, with all 30 combatants getting touched in one way or another.
From the look of things, some of the biggest changes seem to put the grapplers at a bit of a disadvantage in Street Fighter VI. Lily, Manon, and Zangief are feeling the burn because of input changes. Neutral options were targeted, as were turn-stealing moves, yet with that came some interesting combo paths, such as Zangief getting buffs to Power Stomp.
From my own view of my Street Fighter VI mains, Mai got some brutal things done to her this time. For instance, her Level 1 Kagero No Mai lost its invincibility. Her install version can still keep the defense for reversals. This means that even when trying to stop a Drive Impact, it won’t be as useful as it was before. However, some of her specials received damage boosts. And yes, I’m still surprised that I’m saying Mai Shiranui and Street Fighter VI in the same sentence without a new Capcom vs. SNK crossover being the subject.
Chun-Li has a new way to cancel out of her Serenity Stance by pressing up. While in Serenity Stance, Lotus Fist now has a +1 frame advantage on block instead of a -3 disadvantage. Kung Fu fun for the whole family.
Modern controls have also been updated slightly, according to the Street Fighter VI patch notes.
With this battle adjustments we’ve updated certain normal moves (ones that utilize the attack button) and special moves (ones that utilize the SP button) for specific characters. Additionally, for moves that are performed by pressing Down+SP, you can now select the strength of the special move by inputting SP with Down-back, Down or Down-Forward.
Meanwhile, Yasmine’s kit will be available through the new Avatar Arcade mode instead of World Tour mode, since Ingrid was the last character to be included as a master before the mode itself was brought to a close.
Yasmine also has an interesting mix-up game. Her projectile, Pangal Sa Lakuran, has a vacuum effect if it hits. If it’s blocked, crouching opponents can still get caught in the mix-up. However, the projectile can be negated if Yasmine is hit. Her Level 2 Super can retain Bayani Mode, which powers up her next move, but thanks to the Super, Yasmine gets a timer for Bayani Mode.
Street Fighter VI is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
