Street Fighter VI has ended its Year 3 run with some classics, but Year 4 is taking a very different direction. Capcom is leaning even harder into Street Fighter VI’s wilder side, bringing in a few unexpected characters that no one saw coming. And this time around, no classic World Warrior is showing up in the next pass.
Summer Game Fest brought a new trailer to give us our first glimpse at them.
Arjun, Yasmine, Tifa, and Bosch are all joining Street Fighter VI for Year 4. Yasmine arrives in Summer 2026, followed by Arjun in Fall 2026, Tifa in early 2027, and Bosch later in 2027.
Arjun and Yasmine are brand-new characters, so there is still a lot we do not know about them yet. Arjun looks like he could be a breath user with some sort of Juggernaut-like presence, while Yasmine looks to bring a fast, kick-focused fighting style to the roster. Bosch, however, is no stranger to Street Fighter VI, as he played a major role in World Tour as the Nayshall rival who could.

Tifa is definitely the biggest surprise. Rumors of the Final Fantasy VII character showing up in Street Fighter VI have been floating around for a few months now, but seeing it actually happen is still wild. As for her kit, there is already plenty of speculation that Capcom could work in some sort of Limit Break system, while also making use of Materia, the magic-based system from Final Fantasy VII.
“Tifa is a character loved by players all around the world,” said Final Fantasy VII Remake Director Naoki Hamaguchi on the Summer Game Fest stage. “That’s exactly why this was done to bring to life a Tifa who truly fights within the world of Street Fighter 6.”
“Everything from her design to movement has been rebuilt as Tifa the Street Fighter,” said Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama. “Materia has also been reimagined as a new gameplay system. We cannot show it today, but we adapted an iconic Final Fantasy element to the battle experience.”
The timing is definitely there, especially since Final Fantasy VII Revelation was revealed to be the final part of the three-part Remake series. Maybe Ingrid’s abilities somehow pulled Tifa into this world. Sadly, thanks to the lack of future World Tour content, we may be left in the dark as to why Tifa is here unless Capcom explains it through Arcade mode.
Yasmine will be the first Year 4 character to arrive, so her gameplay trailer should be coming soon. But for now, Street Fighter VI Year 4 is already looking like one of the strangest character passes Capcom has put together for the series.
