If you thought to yourself that there weren’t enough Penny Arcade events, well, I’ve got news for you. ReedPop and Penny Arcade have announced yet another PAX convention, this time bringing their tabletop and card game-focused event to Texas. Yep, get ready for PAX Unplugged Houston!
The inaugural PAX Unplugged Houston will take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center from Friday, June 25, through Sunday, June 27, 2027. It will become the second analog-focused PAX event from ReedPop and Penny Arcade, joining the original PAX Unplugged, which takes place in Philadelphia every December.
Much like PAX Unplugged Philadelphia, PAX Unplugged Houston will celebrate all things tabletop gaming, including board games, card games, role-playing games, miniatures, and more. Attendees will be able to check out upcoming games, attend panels featuring internet personalities and industry experts, and watch or participate in high-stakes tournaments throughout the weekend.
So, why add another PAX Unplugged? While there are multiple PAX events held throughout the year, most of them are largely focused on video games. That leaves tabletop fans with only one dedicated PAX event, and apparently, holding it once a year just wasn’t enough for Jerry Holkins, co-founder of PAX, Penny Arcade, and Child’s Play Charity.
“Whenever we get done with PAX Unplugged out in Philly, I just want to rewind time and do it all again. This is the next best thing. And it’ll be great to see our old friends from down that way.”
So, if making the hike out to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was too much, but you wanted to join in, now Reed Pop and Penny Arcade is now meeting you halfway. Well, unless you live outside of the country. Then it’s still a pretty long hike.
Badges for PAX Unplugged Houston will go on sale later this year, with additional details regarding exhibitors, panels, tournaments, and other activities expected closer to the event.
