As a diehard Death Battle fan, I know that there are matches that almost transcend the show itself. These are the matches that are endlessly debated because the winner “isn’t clear,” and we all want to see how it’ll go. During the Kickstarter that helped reboot the series, the crew promised we’d get a match that fans had been begging for: Simon The Digger vs Kyle Rayner. Yep! It’s Gurren Lagann vs. DC Comics! The Digger vs. The White Lantern! Many were surprised we got it “this early” into the show’s independent run, but trust me when I say…it lives up to the hype.
Without spoiling too much, the show dives into all elements of both continuities, including the guidebooks, event comics, the second Gurren Lagann movie (which added more to the final fight), and so on. They make it clear just how broken these two are, and yet, there is a winner.
