In a surprise release today, Paramount Pictures, in association with Legendary Pictures, has revealed a new clip from their upcoming Street Fighter movie, based on the legendary Capcom IP. It’s hands down the best snippet of the movie we have seen thus far, giving us a great look at Jason Mamoa’s Blanka facing off with Andrew Koji’s Ryu.
You can check the clip out for yourself below:
In the clip, they are clearly representing Blanka as a serious, monstrous threat. Which is exactly what I hoped to see; of course, there are hints of comedy in there with the few dialogue lines we get from Momoa. Honestly, I think it fits the tone of the movie that we have seen in trailers so far.
If I have one concern over the usage of Blanka in particular, it’s that he will only be used in the sequence we see above. But I really hope I am wrong about that, since this early showing leaves me believing that Jason Momoa could be about to steal the show with his performance as Blanka.
Obviously, time will tell, and the movie is edging closer to release. We don’t have long to wait as Street Fighter hits theatres in October 2026.
