Mortal Shell II is packed with plenty of small details that are easy to miss when you’re busy trying not to get murdered by everything in Fallgrim. One of the more amusing ones involves Louis, the dog you’ll encounter in Marrowkeep, and apparently, he’s a lot more particular about who gets to pet him than I initially realized.
If you approach Louis while using just about any Shell and attempt to pet him, he’ll growl at you and make it pretty clear that he’s not interested.

That’s already a fun little character detail, but it gets even better.
If you change Promixa’s Shade, which changes the color of her appearance, Louis apparently no longer recognizes her. Walk up to him again and he’ll go right back to growling, despite the fact that you’re still using Promixa.
Whether Louis is recognizing Promixa by appearance, scent somehow doesn’t factor into Mortal Shell II’s dog logic, or this is simply a funny little interaction the developers included, it’s a neat detail that most players could easily play through the entire game without ever noticing.
And really, Louis? Come on. It’s still her.
