Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is still a few weeks away from launching on PlayStation 5 and PC, but players won’t have to wait until August to see what Arc System Works has been cooking up.
From July 24 through July 26, an open beta for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be available to play for free on PS5 and PC. So, if you’ve been curious about the superhero-themed fighter or simply want to get some early matches in, next week will be your chance.
The open beta begins at 12 a.m. PDT, 7 a.m. UTC, and 4 p.m. JST, and will remain available for 72 hours. There is no registration required, meaning players can head to the PlayStation Store or their preferred PC storefront, download the beta, and jump straight into the action. Thankfully, PlayStation Plus will not be required to participate on PS5, so you won’t have to worry if you aren’t a current subscriber.
The beta will include 15 of the 20 characters planned for the game’s launch roster. Those characters include Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Ghost Rider, Blade, Doctor Doom, and Magneto.
Players will also be able to fight across six stages, including the day and night versions of Marvel’s New York, Savage Land, X-Mansion, Knowhere, and Wakanda.
As for modes, the open beta will feature ranked and casual matches, a practice mode, an explorable open lobby, and three episodes from the Amazing Guardian story campaign. That should be more than enough content to give players a solid idea of how Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls plays before its full release.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6 for PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam & Epic Games Store). However, if you were looking forward to playing this latest fighting game with PlayStation’s upcoming FlexStrike fight stick, that won’t be happening at launch, as the controller was recently delayed indefinitely.
