Magic: The Gathering Reveals Its First Universes Beyond Secret Lair Commander Deck Featuring Hatsune Miku
Magic: The Gathering is taking another step into the world of Universes Beyond, and this time it’s doing something Secret Lair has never done before.
Wizards of the Coast has officially revealed Secret Lair Commander Deck: Hatsune Miku, the first-ever Universes Beyond Commander deck released under the Secret Lair banner. Rather than a collection of alternate-art cards, this release arrives as a fully playable 100-card Commander deck built around the globally recognized virtual performer.
Designed by Magic developer Carmen Klomparens, the green-white deck features Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice reimagined as Miku, Song of the People. The strategy focuses on creating creature tokens, gaining large amounts of life, and turning that growing advantage into a game-ending performance.
The deck also serves as a celebration of Hatsune Miku’s artistic legacy. Thirteen cards feature brand-new artwork from Japanese artists, including an illustration by KEI, the original illustrator behind Hatsune Miku’s software packaging. Foil borderless basic lands and newly commissioned artwork throughout the deck help give the release the feel of a complete collector’s product rather than simply another Secret Lair drop.
Gameplay staples like Archangel of Thune, Aetherflux Reservoir, Rhys the Redeemed, Voice of the Blessed, Crested Sunmare, and Mirari’s Wake headline the reprints, supporting the deck’s lifegain and token strategy.
The Commander deck includes:
- Ready-to-play 100-card Commander deck

- 14 foil borderless basic lands
- 74 additional non-foil reprints
- 10 double-sided tokens
- Oversized display commander
- Custom deck box
Wizards is also changing how this Secret Lair release will be sold. Instead of the traditional limited inventory model, the Hatsune Miku Commander Deck will be available through a 24-hour ordering window, beginning August 10 at 9:00 a.m. PT and ending August 11 at 8:59 a.m. PT. Orders placed during that window are guaranteed to be fulfilled, although later orders are expected to ship in May 2027 for North America and June 2027 for Europe and the UK.
The deck will be sold exclusively through the Secret Lair storefront for $149.99.
