Mortal Shell II is an ambitious sequel that provides no shortage of content, with a playtime that lands much closer to that of standard Soulslikes than its rather brief predecessor. If you’re interested in what this follow-up brings to the table but want to know just how long it’ll take you to see it all, we’ve got the answer for you below. Here’s how long it takes to beat Mortal Shell II.
How Long Does It Take To Beat Mortal Shell II?
An average playthrough of Mortal Shell II takes around 20-25 hours, which includes beating the game’s main campaign while engaging in a bit of optional content along the way. However, those looking to expand their playtime even further can certainly find an abundance of additional things to find and do across the game’s dangerous, secret-filled world.
Mortal Shell II’s open world features eight shells for players to find, as well as a plethora of weapons, sidearms, and tarstones scattered throughout dozens of dungeons — many of which are tucked away in corners of zones you might not expect. Finding all of this requires thorough exploration and patience, but the rewards are worth it, especially when they specifically improve your build.
Of course, there are also plenty of trophies or achievements to master for those seeking 100% completion. You’ll find the expected basic completion stuff on this list, such as finding every weapon and tarstone, watching all of the shell memories (backstories for each shell), and cleansing all of the game’s beacons (checkpoints). But there are also unique expectations, like finding fun secret areas, playing songs on a lute, or overfeeding a certain NPC.
While you can no doubt complete Mortal Shell II without investing in all of this extra content, it’s highly recommended you seek out as much of it as possible to better prepare you for the game’s challenging end-game areas and bosses. It’s better to be overprepared than underprepared, after all.
