Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire Will See “Different Versions” Of Godzilla

By Todd BlackFebruary 12, 2024
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire

2024 might not seem like it has plenty of “big movies” coming out, especially given the state of comic book films nowadays, but there are a few you should be mindful of! Dune: Part Two is coming out in a few weeks, and that should be incredible. Later this year, Deadpool & Wolverine will likely blow our minds. Then, for those who prefer “monstrous action,” you can enjoy Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. The sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong will see the two “king kaijus” teaming up to save the day from a new monster on the rise.

One thing the initial trailer showed off was that both Godzilla and Kong will get “upgrades.” According to director Adam Wingard, during an interview with Empire Magazine, that’s due to how both sides will undergo “training” to get stronger, not unlike martial arts movies he grew up on:

“I’m really big into Shaw Brothers martial arts. Those films are always about, ‘Here’s a big threat, and you have to do all these things to pump yourself up so that you can take on that threat.'”

But that’s not the only thing he teased:

“You’re gonna see lots of different versions of Godzilla in this movie.”

What does he mean by that? We’ll find out when Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire arrives in theaters on March 29th.
