Square Enix has officially released Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster on PC and Xbox platforms today. The classic RPG is now available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox on PC, with support for Xbox Play Anywhere.
Interestingly, while the game is expanding to multiple platforms, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are missing from the lineup. Considering Square Enix’s long history of supporting PlayStation platforms, the absence of a PS4 or PS5 version is a bit perplexing to say the least.
To celebrate the launch, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster is currently available with a 20% discount on both Steam and Xbox platforms. Players who purchase the game will also receive a digital art book accessible through D-Viewer as a bonus.
Originally released last year for the Nintendo Switch 2, the remaster brings the adventure in Luxendarc to additional platforms with HD visuals, quality-of-life improvements, and several new minigames. The PC version is also compatible with handheld devices like the Steam Deck and the ROG Xbox Ally.
Set in the world of Luxendarc, the story follows a group of heroes attempting to restore balance after darkness erupts from the mysterious Great Chasm. Players join Agnès Oblige, Tiz Arrior, Edea Lee, Ringabel, and the cryst-fairy Airy as they set out to restore the four elemental crystals.
Combat centers around the series’ signature Brave & Default system, which allows players to stockpile turns for defense or spend them to unleash multiple actions in a single round. Combined with more than 20 job classes, the system allows for a wide range of party builds and strategies.
The remaster also brings back the game’s distinctive character designs from Akihiko Yoshida and its memorable soundtrack composed by Revo.
