Atomfall Pre-Launch Trailer Revealed

By Andrew AgressMarch 20, 2025
Atomfall trailer

We’re just one week from the release of Atomfall. To wet our whistles in the meantime, Rebellion has served up a short and sweet pre-release trailer. While just over a minute, the trailer shows off a number of locales in quick succession. It also, interestingly, enlightens us a bit more on the disaster at the heart of the game’s mystery. Check it out below.

Atomfall takes place in an alternate-history version of Northern England. After the Windscale nuclear disaster of 1953 (real), the surrounding area has become a quarantine zone (fiction). Picking up fives years after the disaster, Atomfall tasks players with exploring the area. Scavenge, survive, barter, and fight through the zone to uncover the secrets of Windscale and escape.

The trailer also gives a few quick peeks at some of the enemies. A number of these draw from classic British speculative fiction of the 1960s. At 35 seconds in there’s a glimpse of a giant Wicker Man. And just three seconds after gives a peek at a monstrous plant straight out of The Day of the Triffids.

The trailer also provides a look at some of the other editions. Preordering the standard game gets you a basic supply bundle. This includes an exclusive melee weapon variant, an item recipe, and a loot cache. There’s also a deluxe edition. This comes with three days early access to Atomfall. Players also get an enhanced supple bundle in addition to the basic bundle. The enhanced bundle provides an exclusive pistol variant, a skill manual, and a metal detector skin. It also grants access to DLC at a later date.

Earlier this month The Outerhaven went hands-on with Atomfall. In our preview, we especially enjoyed the exploration and combat, while wondering a bit about the story and navigation.

We’ll soon find out how the whole game stacks up. Atomfall arrives on March 27th for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
