Analyst Believes Nintendo Switch 2 Makes 2025 The “Year Of Nintendo”

We can see why they say that...

Nintendo Switch 2

Going into 2025, many expected certain “big things” to happen across multiple developers and publishers. Some have come true, such as with Monster Hunter Wilds doing incredibly at launch, and others have been surprising, like the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. One of the biggest “question marks” that is still up in the air is the Nintendo Switch 2. Yes, we know about the system and its launch titles, but we don’t exactly know how much it’ll sell at launch, nor do we know the games that’ll release after July. However, that hasn’t stopped one analyst from dubbing 2025 the “year of Nintendo” because of a key delay.

That analyst is Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Japan game industry consultancy Kantan Games. He feels that with GTA 6 moving from 2025 to 2026, alongside Xbox and Sony doing nothing significant this year so far, the Nintendo Switch 2 has all the room and bandwidth needed to dominate the year. He told GamesRadar:

“Now Nintendo has half a year to prepare and market a potentially big holiday line-up, Sony can release Ghost of Yotei in peace, and Microsoft has more room to possibly release its Xbox handheld. However, the double whammy that was supposed to revitalize the game industry overall is now called off. 2025 will clearly be the year of Nintendo now.”

It certainly does feel that way currently, as the Switch 2 news has been dominating events since January, and especially in the last month. Plus, June and July will undoubtedly be about launch numbers and the next big software reveals. How big will this “Year of Nintendo” get? We’ll find out…
