Recently, it was revealed that Lies of P, one of my favorite action RPGs and Soulslikes of 2023, managed to surpass 4 million copies sold. And honestly, I’m both happy about the news and a little saddened by it.
NEOWIZ had this to say about the milestone: “Reaching this milestone is an incredibly significant moment for the Lies of P team. The enthusiasm and passion that the global community has shown for this title continues to inspire us, and we are grateful to see players around the world discover and embrace our dark reimagining of Pinocchio’s story.”

It was only this past June 2025 that the game had hit 3 million copies sold. Here we have one of the better Soulslike titles released that year, crafted by developers who had never worked on the genre before. Not only did they manage to build an amazing adventure rooted in a tale that many of us grew up with, whether on TV or in books, they put a dark fantasy spin on it that felt entirely their own. Fantastic combat, an interesting story, weapon crafting that gave you real ownership over your build, and level design that tied it all together. It was the total package.
When I reviewed Lies of P for The Outerhaven, I called it “easily one of the best Soulslike games I’ve played that didn’t come from FromSoftware” and noted that it delivers “an experience that’s both familiar and fresh.” Those words still hold up. So, you’d think this game would have blown past 4 million copies long ago, but here we are in 2026, three years later, just now hearing it crossed that mark.
Kudos to ROUND8 and NEOWIZ. I can’t wait for the follow-up, which is currently in development and takes on another beloved tale, this time putting their dark fantasy spin on the story of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz.
