Tekken 8 Takes Home Best Fighting Game Award at The Game Awards 2024

Tekken 8 beat out the competition this year at the 2024 Game Awards. Beating out Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, last year’s winner Multiversus, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, and Marvel vs Capcom: Fighting Collection.

The competition seemed to be stiff this round. For instance, brand-mate Sparking Zero had 150+ characters at launch from the series with mostly duplications of popular choices to show for it as an arena fighter. Marvel vs Capcom had nostalgia on its side, boasting 7 classic titles. Multiversus had its resurgence as a fully launched title.

With several key features such as the continuation of the Tekken story, crossplay fighting modes, the power of Unreal Engine 5, and some of the best customizations around, it was obvious that Tekken 8 was taking the award. Tekken Project producer Harada gave his speech that asked fans not to ask him for *Bleep* after the trailer comes to reveal the next Tekken 8 DLC character for Season 1.

Final Fantasy XVI’s Clive was the reward to fans eager to watch Tekken 8 get its’ final character shown. Clive will also get a deep dive at 9 am EST for the Dev Talk. Perhaps the fit will come for the avatars next as more of the collaboration will be revealed.

Clive will be officially coming to Tekken 8 on December 19th with Season Pass holders getting it on the 15th.
