With 2025 literally right around the corner, the countdown to the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 is on, and it’s something that many are literally chomping at the bit to learn more about. As we talked about last week on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, the Switch 2 has had LEGIONS of news “reports” and rumors about what it will be, what games it’ll have, and more. Yet, we don’t have true details from Nintendo. However, we do have tales of excitement from those who will definitely be on it, including Square Enix.
To be honest, Square Enix was one of the 3rd party publishers who was on the OG Switch early and often, including helping kick off the HD-2D extravaganza with Octopath Traveler. The publisher had a lot of success on the Switch, so it’s unsurprising that producer Akitoshi Kawazu told Famitsu that he’s really excited about the new system:
“The successor to the Nintendo Switch that Nintendo will announce in 2025 and the corresponding market strategy that Nintendo will develop. I’m looking forward to it as both a user and a creator.”
Recall that the publisher is going heavy on its multiplatform strategy going forward, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Nintendo Switch 2 factors into that, especially if the console gets off to a hot start upon release.
