Could Metaphor ReFantazio Become A Series?

One of the key people behind it hopes so!

In the gaming space, if you’re able to make a hit title, more times than not, you’re going to try and make a follow-up that expands what you did but improves it. Atlus is no stranger to this, as it’s been one of the kings of RPGs for a long time now between the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei franchises. Its most recent release, Metaphor ReFantazio, is the fastest-selling game in the company’s history and won numerous honors at The Game Awards. So, with all of that in play, could it get the franchise treatment?

According to Persona Central, the writer and director of the game, Katsura Hashino, had this to say about it:

Since the project started with the goal of creating a third JRPG series alongside Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, I’d like to develop it into a flagship title that represents our company.

He further noted that he would like it to become a series but that there are “no concrete plans” to make the game into a franchise just yet. However, that could change soon, especially as Atlus continues to deliver hit games that sell well and get big awards.
