You Can Thank Nintendo For The Upcoming Professor Layton Title

They wanted it...so they got it.
By Todd BlackOctober 2, 2024
Professor Layton and the New World Of Steam

If you haven’t heard, Level-5 is working on a new Professor Layton title that will arrive in 2025. This is the first new entry in many years, and will directly come after the “ending” that was featured in the Azran Legacy. One of the key differences in this new entry is that this will be a console title for the first time, as it’s coming to the Nintendo Switch. If you’re wondering why the game is even being made at all…that’s because The Big N asked Level-5 to make it.

This comes from Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino, who noted in a chat with Dragon Quest creator Yuji Hori during the Tokyo Game Show, as revealed by Automaton, that The Big N really wanted a new game to happen:

“Certain individual[s] from the industry really wanted us to release a new game.”

He even made it clear that “Company N” gave Level-5 the push to make it. Regardless, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will reunite Layton and his assistant Luke in a brand new setting with an all-new mystery to solve.
