Meet Marvin, Magic: The Gathering terrorizing puppet (Exclusive Preview)

By Karl SmartSeptember 9, 2024
Magic: The Gathering Duskmourn: House of Horror

Just in time for the spooky season, Magic: The Gathering brings out all the creepy, kooky, and spooky monsters, creatures, spirits, and more in their latest expansion: Duskmourn: House of Horror. These monstrous murders of the supernatural have come out of the shadows to disrupt and butcher your most powerful decks as they rampage through the Plains in a manner so evil that it’ll make Blue/Jace players seem like a dream to deal with.

Thanks to the authors of pain at Wizards of the Coast, we have been granted an exclusive card preview featuring a very interesting ability that will put even the most steel-hearted players on edge… Meet Marvin, Murderous Mimic.

Marvin, Murderous Mimic is one of those disruptive elements that Duskmourn: House of Horror brings to the tabletop thanks to his “I just want to play attitude” and an ability that grants Marvin the activated abilities of other creatures you control.

For a 2 colorless cost, Marvin, Murderous Mimic can use the activated abilities of every other card you control, meaning when the player pays the activated ability cost, they can get everything from +1/+1 counters, copy creation, token creation, gain/lose life, and other abilities, making him a terror to deal with.

Note that passive abilities like Haste, Double Strike, etc will not be granted to Marvin.

You can find Marvin, Murderous Mimic, and other frightening creatures, monsters, hexes, and other nightmarish ghouls in Magic: The Gathering‘s newest release: “Duskmourn: House of Horror“. This horror-themed expansion has its Pre-Release at your local Wizards Play Network store between September 20 to 27, then slithers into MTG Arena on September 24, then scares the public with a full escape from the darkness on September 27.
