Marvel Rivals Could Feature Any Marvel Character on Its Roster

Marvel Rivals Could Feature Any Marvel Character on Its Roster

Marvel Rivals, the upcoming 6v6 Hero Shooter from NetEase Games and Marvel Games, promises a diverse roster with no character limitations. According to Danny Koo (thanks VG247), executive producer on the game, “No character is off limits. We have to pick the ones who are fun to look at, different, fun to play…they have to bring something good to the overall roster.”

The game will draw from a massive pool of over 9,000 Marvel characters, offering both well-known heroes and deep cuts from the comics. “When we come up with the roster, it’s like 70-75% of your greatest hits and the well-known characters,” Koo explained. “But with the rest, we tried to throw in some curveballs and deep cuts – characters you don’t know exist if you don’t read the comics.”

This broad approach allows for a wide variety of characters, each carefully chosen to ensure they add unique value to the game’s dynamics and storyline. The developers aim to integrate each character’s unique traits and lore into their combat mechanics. For example, Captain America has been designed with high mobility to reflect his “I can do this all day” attitude, while the Winter Soldier features a unique mechanical arm ability.

Marvel Rivals is set for release on December 6, 2024, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
