Right at the start of Gamescom ONL 2024, a brand-new game that wasn’t leaked was shown, and it was none other than Borderlands 4.
Sadly, we didn’t get to see much of the game, outside of a logo that looks similar to another website we know, and a robotic hand reaching through some fire to grab a familiar mask — The mask of Psycho. We don’t know if this game will revolve around him, or maybe it was shown because it’s very iconic.
Update: Thanks to 2K, we have a bit more info on the upcoming Borderlands 4. Borderlands 4 will take place on a new planet and will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The team and I at Gearbox have a lot we’ve wanted to do with Borderlands since we first introduced the looter shooter genre to the world with our original game,” said Randy Pitchford, founder and President of the Gearbox Entertainment Company. “All of us at Gearbox have massive ambitions for Borderlands 4 and are putting everything we have into making everything we love about Borderlands better than ever before while taking the game to new levels in exciting new directions.”
Outside of that, nothing else was shown, but I suspect we’ll hear and see more about the game during Gamescom 2024, which takes place from August 21-24, 2024.
Either way, we did not see this coming.
